This must be one of the most underrated movies ever, yet many people seem to hate it, but I have to say I'm obsessed. Maybe it's a girl thing. The love story with a twist. Most of us have to be jealous of Evelyn (Kate Beckinsale) who seems spoilt for choice when it comes to attractive males.

This movie tells the story of two boys, almost like brothers. From a young age, Rafe McAwley (Ben Affleck) has looked after and spent most of his life with best friend Danny Walker (Josh Hartnett). They both want to become pilots, and indeed they do. They enlist in the army and train together.

A half-predictable love triangle story is focussed on mainly throughout the film. You are hinted with clips of Japanese Army Commanders who are plotting their attack, but this can go unnoticed for the moment.

You can easily get emotionally attatched to these characters. When Rafe supposedly dies, the sweetest love develops between Evelyn and Danny. Rafes return is a bad sign for them, as she is now faced with her possible destiny. If you're anything like me, you'll be willing her to pick Danny.

I won't spoil anything, but the ending will probably make you cry.

Historical facts, dramatic events, love, hate and pure war make this film what it is.
